The Material Girls exhibition is being staged in the grade II Hayloft at the National Trust Rainham Hall where Anthony Denney was tenant during the 60's. Denney was a one of Conde Nast's chief photographers and his work featured in British Vogue Magazine. He was collector of art, a patron and a Master of Still Life. The Material Girls have taken their inspiration from some of the artists that were in his collection and given it their own twist.Entry into the gardens and exhibition are free, usual charge to the house apply

Design by committee, today’s meeting had a visitor from National Trust Rainham Hall to see our ideas for the upcoming exhibition Denney Edition
Last week Dom from Rainham Hall returned to see how we were progressing with our work that will be in the Library at the hall when the exhibition opens at the end of June.17/6/2019

The Journey Starts Here.........
For the Material Girls next adventure with the National Trust we are leaving behind John Harle and the 18th century and exploring the 1940s when Rainham Hall was requisitioned as a children's nursery. Our exhibition at the Hall in September will be inspired by wartime childhood so research has commenced with a trip to the V&A Museum of Childhood at Bethnal Green. 25/1/2017.

All our work (except for one piece) has been removed from National Trust Rainham Hall ready for the instillation of their new program which will be in place ready for the spring opening in March. However the Material Girls will still be involved in the house as Beverley's 'Will' remains in the room with John Harle's original Will. In the meantime we are working on our next body of work for the Hall due to be exhibited at the Hall later in the Summer! If you missed our 'WITH THE COMPLIMENTS OF JOHN HARLE' at NT Rainham Hall it's not to late the Exhibition is moving to Havering Museum, Romford. This is a busy year we are currently working on our upcoming exhibition at Essex Wildlife Trust- Ingrebourne Valley - Hornchurch Country Park. Check for dates on Exhibition page.

You may have noticed our new Logo, we commissioned Matt Lane-Dixon a graphic designer to do the job for us, a big thank you to Matt for all his help.

The logo takes its inspiration from the handmade quality of textile art and reflects the feel of the materials used, as well as the overall creativity in the group. The layout of the logo is contemporary and easy to read but also has a subtle texture to the letterforms and shapes.
Just before the exhibition opened at Rainham Hall, Mary decided that it would be her last exhibition with the group. We were sorry to see Mary leave, her work is beautiful, she always came up with the most inspired ideas and her support to the group will be missed, Mary's work will still be on show at the Hall and more of her work will be exhibited when the full exhibition is hung in the 'Brew House'.
As one door closes another opens as 'they' say, and we welcome a new member in the group, Sally Chinea. Sally has joined the group just as we start a new project this time with Essex Wildife Trust, we will be exhibiting work at the new Ingrebourne Valley Visitor center in May 2016.
